| Beginners Bridge Course 2024 |
Come and learn this fascinating game. We are running a one-year bridge course for absolute beginners / those returning to bridge after a long absence. We aim to teach enough bridge to enable you to feel confident to play at Newent Bridge Club or with family and friends. There is also potential for a second year ‘Improvers’ course.
‘Gentle Bridge’ sessions will be arranged towards the end of the first year where there will be someone on hand to provide advice and guidance. |
Our Beginner’s Bridge course follows the English Bridge Union's (EBU) ‘Beginning Bridge’ programme. Enjoy learning to play bridge in a fun, friendly environment where you will meet new people. No previous knowledge of cards is required. |

| * Initial 30-week course in 3 x 10-week terms in 2024 |
| * Starts on Thursday 11th January 2024 - 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm |
| * At Newent Community Centre, Ross Road, Newent, GL18 1BD |
* Term 1 Dates: Thursdays between 11th Jan & 21st March, excluding 25th Jan. |
| * Term 2 Dates: Thursdays between 11th April & 13th June (could be flexible) |
| * Term 3 – Autumn 2024 dates to be confirmed |
Learn & Play The teaching method combines PowerPoint presentations with practice play, quizzes and interactive tuition. The emphasis is on ‘learning by doing’ and each week you will build a better understanding of how to play the game |
How much? £100 for each 10-week term; includes the EBU ‘Beginners Bridge’ book (normal price £30) and teaching notes. Each session is 2 hours long; to encourage a social atmosphere there will be a short break for tea or coffee. |
Tutors The course will be led by Ruth Wethey & Tom Rowland, certified EBU bridge teachers and members of Newent Bridge Club. |
How do I enrol? Complete & return the booking form below and pay a £25.00 deposit per person to secure your place. The balance is payable at the start of the course. |
